2011 Scarecrow Festival

Our second year and an even bigger event than 2010.
Well done everyone who took part And THANK YOU all so very much for all the time and effort which you put into making your fantastic creations.
Many hundreds of visitors came along to view what IOW Radio’s Tom Stroud called “A Free Children’s Theme Park”.

The final scarecrow count was: 92 Households having taken part, with approximately 110 to 115 individual scarecrows on display, depending on what you counted as being a scarecrow.

The standard again was very high and our judge, Michael Coombes from IOW Radio found it extremely difficult to pick out those whom he considered should receive a prize. The truth is of course that you all richly deserve a prize..
However, in the event, first prize and receiver of The Ann Dent Memorial Cup, was The Brook Lane Collective with their Mad Hatters Tea Party. Second place went to Colly Donn for the fantastic Mr Fox, whilst Toby Beardsall secured third place with Woody from Toy Story.
Second First Third

This year saw the introduction of refreshments being served in Chillerton village hall by our fantastic team of willing volunteers where hundreds of visitors were able to purchase “A Cup O Tea And A Slice O Cake” for just £1.

In order to give everyone a break, our next festival is scheduled take part in 2013 where hopefully we shall see even more scarecrows on show.
